Roofing Projects Stevenson Design provides both consulting and design on a number of roofs each year for schools, public, commercial and industrial buildings. Our experience can tell you whether you need to replace your roof or if preventative maintenance is all that is required. By putting together a comprehensive set of plans and specifications for your new roof, you are assured of the best solution to your roofing needs. By competitively bidding your roof project you can save 15 to 20% versus a sole-source contract.
Sacred Heart School, Miles City, Montana
Sacred Heart School in Miles City is a private parochial school with roof problems like everyone
else, but limited resources to solve them. Stevenson Design has worked with them over the years
to re-roof sections of the school on a phased plan that included adding insulation under the new
membrane roofs. Because the original steel roof had only R-3 insulation, the new roof insulation
paid for itself within 3 to 4 years in reduced heating bills.
Baker Public Schools, Baker, Montana
The Baker Public Schools were having problems with a number of roofs that had been covered
with spray polyurethane. The only solution was to remove the several layers of roofing down to
the original roof deck and start all over with new insulation and heavy 65 mil EPDM single ply
rubber membrane roofs. Although the first cost of these systems is higher than some other
choices, the life-cycle cost will be the lowest due to length of service and minimal maintenance.
Terry High School Gym, Terry, Montana
The Terry High School built-up gym roof had maintenance problems that had been patched over
for years until high winds tore off not only the roofing, but some sections of the Tectum roof
deck. After an investigation of the roof, Stevenson Design came up with a solution to secure the
rest of the Tectum roof deck to the structure and install a new single ply white Hypalon rubber
membrane roof along with added roof insulation. The gym is used frequently in the summer and
users complained of hot and humid conditions. The white membrane reflects heat, insulation
reduces heat-gain, and new ventilation fans improved air movement significantly.
