The Smith Apartments above the Miles City Ben Franklin was a high-end address until, due to plumbing and heating problems they were abandoned in the 1960's. The Miles City Housing Authority, in an innovative arrangement with the building owner, would totally renovate the apartments in exchange for a long-term lease. The beauty of the original apartments was retained in an historically sensitive renovation that included window replacement, heavy insulation package and modern plumbing, heating and electrical systems.
